Class of 2010, please take note of the recently added "Seniors" tab at the top toolbar. It has links to the Commencement page, the working list of potential Commencement speakers, the Senior Class Facebook group, and the names and email addresses of committee chairs, and more. It will be updated by Senior Representative Megan Dooley as the Senior Committee develops.
Also note the thermometer on the sidebar to your right: as the participation increases in the Senior Class Gift, the thermometer will get hotter. Look out for ways to donate so we can keep Ellen the Pig, and make our administrators do more humiliating wacky things!
Governance committees are perhaps the most obscure aspect of Student Senate, but they are instrumental in effecting policy changes in every area. There are 11 governance committees that are constituted of students, faculty, and administrators.
Based on my previous interactions with committee members on all levels, I have seen that most of these committees are happily faculty-dominated. The best committees are high-functioning and value student input; the worst are happy to do without consistent student representation.

I'm going a little deeper into these committees to find out how they function, and what they have accomplished, and who is utterly half-assing it. Because there are so many committees, I may focus on a chosen few later. I can't really imagine uncovering a big scandal in the Aesthetics committee, but I think it's important that the Faculty Executive committee is better understood. We'll see come September.
Click Pitzer College Governance Structure (1.5 mb) to see the exact structure of all Student Senate/Governance Committees and the composition requirements for their membership. Definitely worth a look if you've ever wanted to actually visualize who exactly serves on these committees, and the ratio of students to faculty/administrators in college functions.
Below, a simple list of all Governance committees. "Non-representative" simply means the committee doesn't have a voting member on Student Senate, not that it is less important.
